What the Hell Happened to MAXIM’s Charles Coxe?

Since MAXIM Magazine’s March 2006 issue hit the shelves, there has been a lot of debate over whether or not their feature story entitled “What Really Brought Down The Towers?” was positive exposure for the 9/11 truth movement.
Some argue that the movement suffered setbacks, due to the fact that the article addressed several marginal “theories”. Others say this is positive, since it brings more exposure to the movement.
While I personally agree with both sides, one of the questions we should be asking is:
What is MAXIM’s motive for publishing this article?
On August 24th, 2004 MAXIM’s senior editor Charles Coxe appeared on the Frank Whalen show on the RBN Network.
“Charles Coxe, is an executive editor for Maxim Magazine, www.maximonline.com Charles will take phone calls regarding suggestions for a forthcoming article on conspiracy FACTS.”

I’ve been unable to locate any reference to the MAXIM “Conspiracy Facts” article mentioned in the above quote.

Coxe happens to be a childhood friend of host, Frank Whalen.
“Charles Coxe, Not only is this guy a Senior Editor of Maxim Magazine, Charles is also a childhood friend of Frank’s”…” Charles also moved us all with his heart-breaking eyewitness account of the tragic September 11th terrorist attacks on New York City…”

Frank’s original geocities site rates Coxe as a 5, on a scale of 1 to 5, as far as guests are concerned.

In Coxe’s August 2004 appearance, Frank Whalen states “…MAXIM has been fantastic, I have always been a fan…” and “…although it is a men’s magazine, you guys have done some fantastic reporting…”
This was rather intriguing, since I had always been under the impression that MAXIM was purely a skin magazine and that Frank focused on exposing truths that mainstream media obfuscated.
For those not familiar with Frank’s show, “Frankly Speaking Radio” airs 6-9 AM on RBN. Among topics discussed are 9/11, Oklahoma City Bombing, media manipulation and the current U.S administration.
Whalen’s broadcast does not appear to serve as a gatekeeper in any respect and, judging from his 2004 appearance, Coxe appears to share the same viewpoints as the host.
During Coxe’s appearance in August 2004, points of discussion included:
• LRADs (Long Range Acoustic Devices) being used for crowd control in New York City
• Frank explaining how Coxe intends to put him in touch with a survivor of the Moscow Theatre attack. Coxe goes on to explain that most of the killing was done by the Russian military, who used chemical weapons on the theatre. Frank points out that this has been featured in an issue of MAXIM.
• Terror alert level disinformation
• 9/11 - Coxe provides a first hand account
• Debunking 9/11 Disinformation
• Mind Control
• Frank Whalen asks Coxe about his forthcomming MAXIM article:
Whalen: “…tell us a little bit about it, is it going to happen? And what are you looking at talking about?
Coxe: “…it is definitely going to happen, the main thing that I want to do though, because we said we haven’t said, OK we’re doing it in a specific month, is, I want to make sure that I take the time to fully research all of this, and that we, you know obviously you know you and I will be working together on this, and really make sure we get our information straight. Because I think a lot of these, you know, for lack of a better term, I know you hate this term, but most people refer to them as conspiracy theories. A lot of them get discredited by people who run too far with them, I think, and that in many ways serves the purposes of the government officials that the theories are trying to discredit. The programs that people are trying to expose…some people take it to an extreme that makes mainstream America dismiss it and say that there’s no way they’re using mind control, but the reality of some of these theories is just as scarey, it’s just that the reality gets dismissed…”
(Source: Coxe’s RBN appearance / hour 3) (note: the above quote was added on 2/19/2006)• Coxe competently discusses the Gulf of Tonkin incident and the Tuskegee Experiment.
• Mentions that the size of UA93’s debris field is well known
Coxe appears to be very optimistic while highlighting an upcoming MAXIM “Conspiracy Facts” article:
“…the main thing I hope people get out of reading this piece, and we’re talking about, not just your listeners, but everybody out there who buys our magazine, will be that they will start to believe that there is a lot more truth behind these things then they realize. Even if they have dismissed some of these ideas as being too outlandish, they will see [inaudible] the truth that exists behind this is crazier than I ever thought it was.”
• Says to expect his article between February and April 2005.
• Coxe showed interest in writing about HAARP, MKULTRA and RFID

While MAXIM’s March 2006 article refers to all 9/11 research as being based in theory, Coxe speaks on the topic with conviction and points out well documented events.
Does Coxe appear to be operating as a gatekeeper? Unfortunately, for those of us who presume he is not, Charles Coxe resigned as Executive Editor of MAXIM on November 4th, 2005. Roughly 3 months prior to the release of MAXIM’s 9/11 article.
Coxe’s co-executive editor James Heidenry, remains with the magazine.
This changing of the guard is reminiscent of the house cleaning that occurred at Popular Mechanics prior to their 9/11 whitewash, appointing Benjamin Chertoff as research editor.

WTF Chuck?
Why did Charles Coxe resign from MAXIM 3 months prior to the release of the March issue?
Could the March 2006 article actually be a distorted revision of Charles Coxe’s original piece which was originally due out in early 2005?
If Charles Coxe remained Executive Editor during production of the 9/11 piece, would it have referred to each exhibit in the article as a “theory” and included references to shape-shifting reptilians? Would it have mentioned remote control planes without referencing Operation Northwoods?

I am currently attempting to contact both Whalen and Coxe for comments.
