NYC: Odorless Gas, Bio Test
Anti-terrorism drill conducted in New York

Tuesday, August 9, 2005 (New York):
New York City officials are conducting a large-scale anti-terrorism test aimed at simulating the effects of a major biochemical attack.
Scientists released a harmless gas in the city’s underground railway system, in a drill to see how to respond to a chemical or biological attack.
Hundreds of devices across New York are now tracking the way the gas is being carried by the airflows between Manhattan’s skyscrapers.
Officials hope the exercise will help in planning how people should be evacuated in case of a real attack.
New York has also raised security levels after the London bombings last month.
